Adur BSAC is a family oriented club. We specialise in training young people to become competent and safe divers and to help develop lasting friendships!
We are not a commercial dive school so if you are looking to “take a course” to get certification for a holiday then you would be better speaking to a commercial dive school, but if you would like to belong to a dive club and benefit from the social aspects then look no further!
The Instructors are are all volunteers and we prefer a more social approach to training. We meet every Tuesday for pool training sessions, have dive lectures/theory days, go on weekend diving-camping trips and occasionally go to the pub (the members that are of age of course).
Quite often parents sit by and watch their children progress their diving and begin to express more of an interest in trying it for themselves. It’s not uncommon that’s parents end up joining in, learning as their child does or even getting taught by their newly qualified child!
We understand that diving is not a cheap sport so we try and loan out club kit for trainees to use for pool sessions and out on trips. Extra kit, like Dry-suits and such, is also lent out for dive trips as UK (size permitting!) so you can also get your Dry-suit Certification at the same time!
It’s a big and exciting step for the young divers to be trusted with so much gear but we feel it’s the best way to show them the effort that goes into diving. Learning to take care of your kit is a key element of the whole process. It’s a test of how well you can cope with the responsibility of owning your own kit because unfortunately the club cannot supply a set indefinitely, however we have many experienced divers that can offer lots of advice when it comes to buying your own and moving on to Sports Diver!
We can be as accommodating as you feel ambitious. If only reaching Ocean or Sport Diver is your goal then we can do that. If you want to make it all the way to Instructor or Dive Leader then we can do that too. The amount you get out of diving is entirely dependent on how much effort you put in.
